Pirates of the Curry Bean

Badger class performed our Summer Show, The Pirates of the Curry Bean to the school and parents.  Both shows were absolutely amazing! Even though the children were nervous, they all performed really well, remembering their lines but also acting their lines which was fantastic.  I am very proud of them all for putting on such an excellent show. Also, thank you to parents for taking time out of your day to support your children, it was lovely to see so many of you there.

KS1 Sports Day

Wow! What a fantastic afternoon of sport.  It was a lovely afternoon with the weather being so good and lots of parents coming along to support their children. It was great to see the children participating and cheering on their friends during the races. After a series of races and relays the winners were the Sparrowhawk team - well done! But the biggest cheer was for the ice lollies kindly provided by the PTFA! I must thank the staff for organizing the afternoon but also to our Year 6 helpers - Daisy, Oscar and Charlie - who did a brilliant job in supporting the children with the races. Also, thank you to all the parents who came along and made our sports day so successful.

Haven Banks Trip

Badger Class headed off to Haven Banks in Exeter for a day of caving, climbing and boating. The day was an absolute success with all children participating and having go. Some children really pushed themselves to the limit both in the climbing and caving, which was great to see, as the day was about taking on new challenges. Mr Germscheid and I were both proud and pleased to see them all trying hard and believing in themselves.

Calligraphy at Shute

We were lucky enough to have a visit from Gina Youens to teach the children about mythical beasts and medieval illuminated letters. The children all had the opportunity to make a bookmark using illuminated letter stencils and drawing their own mythical beast. Every class from Reception to Year 6 were able to make a bookmark and they all had a fantastic time. It was lovely to see children of all ages being able to access the activity and having a great time designing their own bookmarks. Thank you to Shute Festival for funding this outreach work and to Gina for taking the time to work with the children!

Paignton Zoo Trip

On Friday 19th May we went on a whole school trip to Paignton Zoo, as part of the zoo’s centenary celebrations. The whole school had a fantastic day walking around the zoo learning about the animals. Some children were lucky enough to meet free-range lemurs in Lemur Wood and others managed to see the elusive Red Pandas who were eating breakfast!  It was a lovely day out and the children were fantastic.
